    1. You have worked out the value of each object Elizabeth, but is your final answer correct?

  2. In the first question the horse means 10 because 10+10+10 is 30. In question two the horse means 10 and the horseshoe is 4 because 4 + 4 is 8. And in question 3 the shoe means 2 because the horseshoe means 4 . And in the last question there is 2+10 times 2 so I used the bid mas so it is 4 times 10 is 40 + 2 is 42.

    1. It is 2 + 10 at the start. Then you have to multiply this by another number.

  3. horse=10 If you look from the top the horse has to be 10 because 10=10=10=30
    then the rest is easy because there is only
    one answer and you have to use bid mas.
    magnet=4 * 4
    shoes=2 40+2=42

  4. 10=horse
    4=2horse shoes
    2=boot
    2x10+2=24
    2 Horse shoes are 4 but in the last sum there is only one so I halved 4 which is 2

    1. You're onto something there! I must confess, I didn't notice that when I first looked at the problem. There is more to it than initially meets the eye!

      But you're not quite there yet. Look at how many boots there are, and don't forget about BIDMAS!

  5. The horses are 10 because 10+10+10=30. In the other question there was a horse and two horseshoes that are 4 so it's 10+4+4=18. In question 3 the boots are 2 so it's 4-2=2 and the final question is 10 times 4=40 40+2=42.

    1. This was what I got when I first worked it out, but then I noticed that I'd made a mistake. Can you see what it is?

      I'll give you a clue: it's not the maths that I did wrong; I didn't spot something about the question.

  6. They is only one horse shoe so therefore 4/2=2 so it would be 1+10x2=42 According to BIDMAS.

    1. Hang on, I don't think that 1+10x2=42! You're right to be using BIDMAS though.

    2. By the way 1 + 10 X 2 = 21

  7. 10 = horses
    because there are 3 horses and they equal to 30 and 10+10+10=30
    10+4+4=18
    4-2=2 boots
    and the final question is 10 times 4 =40
    40+2=42

    1. This is a great start, you remembered to use BIDMAS which is fantastic.

      You and Esther did the same thing as I did at first. But I made a mistake, and you have both made the same one! Have a look at the comment I left for Esther.

  9. The first one is 10+10+10=30
    The second one is 10+4+4=18
    The third one is 4-2=2
    The fourth one is 2+10x4=48

    1. Do you remember what we learned about BIDMAS?

  10. 10+10+10=30
    10+4+4=18
    4-2=2
    2 TIMES 4+10=18

  11. 1. For the horse there's 3 horses and it equals 30 I think each one is 10
    2.I know that the horse is 10 and i have to get to 18 and there's 2 pairs of horse shoes half of 8 is 4 so four each
    3.There's a pair of horse shoes and shoes so 4 - ? = 2 and 4 - 2 =2
    4.For this question there's a pair of shoes a horse and a horse shoe and the horse is 10 the shoe is 2 and the sum is 2 + 10 x ? = ?? I think 2 + 10 = 12 x 2 = 24

  12. The last question is 12 x 4=48 because the horse represents 10 the boot represents 2 and the golden horse shoe represents 4.

  13. 1)10+10+10=30
    2)10+4+4=18
    3)4-2=2
    4)2+10=20X4=80

  14. horse=10
    horseshoe=4
    boots=2
    1+10x2=21
    The final answer is 21 as there is one boot which means I have to half the number it was when there was 2 boots,also the horseshoe is 2 as you have to half the number it was when there were 2 also.You have to do the working out according to BIDMAS which means you do 10x2=20 first and then you add 1 which equals 21.
