A bird flew north for 20 minutes, north-west for 50 minutes, then south for 20 minutes.
The bird keeps flying at about the same speed.
For how long, and in what direction, would the bird have to fly to return to its starting point?
(If you're not sure about compass points then this might help you.)
I'm not sure but I think the bird would have to fly east for 20 minutes
ReplyDeleteThe bird has to fly toward south-east for 50 minutes to get to the starting point.
ReplyDeleteThe bird may have to go South-east for 30 minutes. Then go North for 40 minutes to get to his starting point so it will take the bird about 90 minutes to get to it's starting point.
ReplyDeleteI think it will the bird fly for 25 minutes and fly in the south-east.
ReplyDeleteI think the bird fly up to 30 minutes because it stared at 50 then take away 20 which makes 30
ReplyDeleteI think that you have to add 50 plus 20 plus 20 and fly north.
ReplyDeleteI think that the answer is 90 mins
ReplyDeleteThe bird should fly North for 20 minutes to get back to the NW position then fly SE for 50 minutes then fly South for 20 minutes.
ReplyDeleteI think it might have to be 50 + 20 + 20 which = 90 and also it will then take the bird 50 minutes to get back to it's starting point.
ReplyDeletei think it would be 20 plus 20 plus 50 =90 which i think you half and it would be 30
ReplyDeleteLots of interesting ideas but no one has got it yet!
ReplyDeleteMaybe have a go at drawing a map of where the bird has gone and then try to work out how it needs to go back.
i think it would be 20 plus 20 plus 50 =90 which i think you half and it would be 30
