Year 6 become paleontologists

Year 6 have had an exciting start to their Science topic Evolution. During a lesson about how fossils are formed everyone had the chance to make a fossil. A week later, it was time to excavate! Like all good paleontologists we used a range of tools to carefully uncover the fossils.

What questions would you ask a paleontologist?
What do you know about fossils already?

  1. The question I will ask a palaeontologist is that how hard is it to find a fossil?

  4. I know that a fossil is a type of bone that has been compressed in soil for a long time and as it is in the soil little bits of water come through the soil and then it starts to harden so it has a mold around of it, after 20 years(probably) the palaeontologist digs it out very carefully and inspects it and then takes of the mold if there is one, and you can use that mold to make that bone again with a liquid> My Question is whats the average time you find a fossil in?
