A new city

Imagine you have just arrived in London It is a city far away from home. You have never been here before.

Write two paragraphs describing this unfamiliar city. What can you see, hear, smell? How does it compare to your hometown of Lagos, Nigeria?

  2. London is extremely cold, it's nothing compared to Nigeria. In Nigeria it's hot. It's unfortunate that me and Femi had to come here, far away from home and far away from Papa. I hope he's OK. I never wanted to be left in these streets alone, I never wanted any of this at all.

I can see dull streets everywhere I go. I can smell pollution and I don't like London at all. There's rubbish everywhere I go. I can here loud traffic. Me and Femi are all alone, with nobody to look after us, or to give us food, I miss Papa.

All I have here is Femi and all Femi has is me.

  3. This is like me entering a new world, a world I have not discovered yet. All I can see is lightning, flashing about and hear thunder, making the sounds of an earthquake. I can hear the trees blowing in the wind and swaying to and fro. I can hear hair-raising noises that I cant identify. I can see
animals, forming bloodcurdling shadows. I can smell delectable food that is making me voracious.

London is the complete opposite of Lagos. Lagos is a warm and refreshing country while London, on the other hand, smells like sewers and it is very hard to breathe with this stench. Lagos is full of palm trees and sandy beaches and jellofrice while London is full of cold parks, water that is frozen and the smell of the raw fish market.

  4. It is like a new world . I can see a river full of dirty water. people are swarming every where like ants. every where you go there are gangsters in corners shouting. It smells of gas and sewers.

It is nothing like Lagos. There you can smell food cooking but here it is a nightmare. In Lagos when I sniff the air It makes me hungry but here it just makes me want to be sick.

  7. I want to go to Nigeria again. I am in this unfamiliar place; it's very strange, but I can see some fantastic buildings like a big clock. It's so giant but the people are so different to me.
