Year 4 went on a trip to the River Thames to deepen their knowledge about rivers. They went to explore the muddy banks in search of artifacts from as far back as the Tudor times.
What sort of artifacts did you find? How were you able to tell what time it was from? Can you remember any interesting facts about the Thames? What do you think children in years to come will find on the Thames river banks?
I got taught that a piece of metal can go rusty when it hits water.i also know that some pieces of pottery can be from the med evil times or the Tudor times.i think children will find our rubbish in the river themes because we found the olden times rubbish++
ReplyDeleteWe found lots of different pieces of pottery and we even saw pottery with writing on it. One of them said there is a unicorn somewhere thinking about you. I found it very interesting so I started looking for it and I didn't find it so I gave up. we also found lots of thick shimmery glass in the color blue white and turquoise. The lady told us these pottery were from medieval and Tudor times. The Thames is the longest river in the England.
ReplyDeletewe found found pottery from roman times because on our sheet we looked to compare if it was the romans or victorians or egyptians. They use to take water from the river thames and clean it .so we drink water from the river thames
ReplyDeleteThe artifacts that i found glass, a small square piece made out of foam, which i predict was an old scrabble piece and crystal rocks that was easy to find. The interesting facts that i remember from the Thames is that queen Victoria that when she is finished with her food or drink she will just be throwing and littering on the river or near the river which has kind of caused pollution from today. The children will definitely see rocks and stones, rubbish and mud.how i was able to guess what time it was from is by seeing if it has any dust or any darkness on the stones or rocks.
ReplyDeleteWhen we went down to the river i found lots of interesting things.I found lots of green and white glass and i also found seaweed.I also found a piece of a pot.I could tell that it was from the olden days because it was very old and rusty. The fact that i found really interesting i that a long time ago people didn't have water so they had to go down to the river and get water for them selves.

ReplyDeleteyear 4 went on a trip to the museum of London docklands. It was so windy. We went down to the docks with our guide and then we split up in groups to find artifacts from the Victorian era. Some people found sea worms. We were able to tell what time the artifacts came from because if it was from this centuary then it would be abright colour but if it was the olden days then it would be a dark colour and be hard as rock.In the Victorian times boats we used for carrying sugar and other stuff and the museum of London DOCKLANDS was used as a warehouse.[we found some shrimps/crabs and seaworms].I think children in the year will find rubbish and artifacts.
ReplyDeleteTrims, bricks from old buildings, funny looking shapes of rocks, crystals and lots of shells. It was from the Victorian times. The river Thames is a clean river because even if you thought it is polluted it is only the sand that makes it look polluted.Did you know that the river Thames changes direction 2 times a day? We know that the river is clean because there were creatures living in the water.I think that the there is a factory because steam was coming from the corner, shops and housing because I could see lots of flats.
ReplyDeletewe went to the river and we saw a crab and a shrimp and the clams. and the water was clean and the animal live in the water.
ReplyDeleteYear 4 went on a trip to London docklands. We had so much fun we had were some special gloves so we don`t get our hands messy and full of bacteria. After that we tried finding artifacts and saw something that people smoke out of in the olden times. We could tell time of year it was made of because in nowadays we don't have it or use it .There were loads of birds including some segels were there were loads of dirt because of the sand.
