Spring has sprung

The Year 3 teachers hope you have all been enjoying your break and making the most of the milder weather (finally!)

Now that it is getting warmer, what sort of changes are you noticing outside? 

Have you noticed new plants growing? 

Can you name some of the different plants and flowers you have seen on your holiday?

Balanced Diet

    In science, we have been looking at different types of food, and how much of each type of food we need in our diet.

         Can you make a menu for the day from these items? You do not have to use all of them.

Circulatory system

This term Year 6 have been learning about the heart and the circulatory system. This week we got to look at some real hearts. We used different tools to explore the parts of the heart and how blood enters and exits the heart.

Year 6 become paleontologists

Year 6 have had an exciting start to their Science topic Evolution. During a lesson about how fossils are formed everyone had the chance to make a fossil. A week later, it was time to excavate! Like all good paleontologists we used a range of tools to carefully uncover the fossils.

Myself and other animals

Year 5 have been extremely interested in animals this term and have learnt that there are 5 main classifications - each have them have different characteristics which are what make them different.

What is your favourite animal?

For example, since the arrival of the Hill Mead chickens, my favourite animal is definitely now a chicken! I know this is a bird because they lay eggs, they are warm-blooded (you can feel how warm they are when you hold them!) and they have feathers.
