Spelling galore!

In light of the spelling bee last week, it got me thinking about how I learn to spell words that are particularly difficult.

For example, I know how to spell the word secretary because I imagine that a secretary keeps a secret.
or
I know how to spell embarrass because I imagine two red cheeks (2 x r) when I'm '2 shy' (2 x s).

Do you have any ways that help you remember to spell specific words?

  13. I use pro-nun-ci-a-tion. Or breaking them up. Pronunciation helps a lot because there are a lot of words you need to pronounce to get right.
